The “Dolcetto d’Alba” is a vine which has been grown for a long time on the ridges of the “Langhe” hills in the Piedmont. It is gathered at the end of September and aged for at least a year, it is a wine from a dry taste, slightly bitter, full-bodied and harmonious.
This wine has always been highly appreciated because of its ruby-red colour, its distinguishing fragrance and the aftertaste of bitter almond that makes it unique.
It is can be improved with a period of ageing of about two or three years, developing such qualities to compete with the best wines.
It is excellent along with starters, soups, polenta, “agnolotti”, with roasted meats, pork chops and mature cheeses.
Colour: ruby-red sometimes tending to violet in the foam.
Smell: vinous, pleasant, characteristic.
Taste: dry, slightly bitter, rather acid.
