The first “black” rice has exotic origins, someone even says that it came from the Philippines and was discovered by a Chinese. In China this variety of rice exists since many centuries and is reserved for the nobles.
In Italy, this new quality of rice is barely known. It is called Venere (Italian for Venus) and, being a wholemeal rice, it needs to be cooked for about 40 minutes.
It smells of bread just taken out of the oven, by cooking it releases a very nice smell.
It is excellent with chicken as well as with fish
